MAN UNITED HAVE received a six-page letter from Jose Mourinho, according to a report in The Independent.
It is claimed the document explains the manager’s strong desire to take over at Old Trafford, and includes a detailed analysis of the current squad and the changes and signings he would make if appointed.
United are said to have been reluctant to sign the 52-year-old due to his regular controversies, though Mourinho has told the club that he is more than willing to curb his outbursts to better suit the club’s principles.
In addition to the incidents that helped lead to Mourinho’s sacking in December, the former Chelsea boss is aware that United would prefer a more expansive style of football rather than the conservative approach Mourinho has become synonymous with.
Historically, Mourinho has also failed to adequately nurture clubs’ young talent — another sticking point for the board — but the manager himself is aware of United’s concerns and has promised to do whatever it takes to land the job.
With pressure at an all time high for Louis van Gaal following a 1-0 loss to Southampton, Mourinho feels his letter will go a long way to convincing the Old Trafford board that he is the right man to succeed his former mentor.
