WESTMEATH GAA HAVE secured a deal with a local engineering firm for the naming rights of Cusack Park in Mullingar.
Technical Engineering Group (TEG), a company which designs, manufactures and delivers engineered parts to the pharmaceutical and aviation sectors, has signed a five-year sponsorship deal.
Westmeath’s county ground will be known as TEG Cusack Park from 2016 onwards.
It’s a welcome boost to the county board’s coffers after last year’s accounts showed there was a serious cash crisis in Westmeath GAA.
At its annual convention before Christmas, board officials revealed in-the-red expenditure of more than €194,000 with delegates admitting the county was ‘practically broke.’
However, there are still plans to press ahead with the redevelopment of Cusack Park with chairman Sean Sheridan in the process of securing the necessary funds.
The 11,000 capacity ground will see its stand redeveloped should the work go ahead with €1.5 million of funding for the project coming from Croke Park and the Leinster Council.
Last year, Wexford, Carlow and London all renamed their grounds after securing naming right partners.
