Galway SHC final
Craughwell 0-12
Sarsfields 0-12
by Daragh Small
NIALL MORRISSEY HIT eight points for Sarsfields but it wasnโt enough to separate them and Craughwell in the Galway SHC final at Athenry.
Sarsfields couldnโt capitalise on their 0-8 to 0-3 half-time lead in Kenny Park.
Niall Healy, who hit 1-11 in Craughwellโs win over St Thomasโ in the final four, was again their star โ he finished with six points.
Craughwell were in their first final since 1932 and looked to set to win when Alan Callanan pushed them in front for the first time five minutes from the end.
However, Morrissey hit back and the former double All-Ireland champions, who have not won a Galway crown since 1997, forced a replay.
It was a scrappy first-half as both sides shot too many wides, but Sarsfields just about did enough with the wind at their backs.
They led 0-8 to 0-3 at the break and it was their ace free-taker Morrissey who showed them the way.
However, Craughwell hit the first three points of the second-half with Alan Callanan pointing within half a minute of the restart.
Then two Niall Healy frees brought Craughwell within two. Morrissey steadied the ship with his fifth free in the 37thminute.
But Craughwell continued to push forward, OโHalloran brought it back to the minimum again, and All-Ireland minor winner Thomas Monaghan tied it up 17 minutes remaining.
Joseph Cooney was hauled down when he was through on goal and Sarsfields regained the advantage through a Morrissey free.
Niall Healy and then Alan Callanan gave Craughwell the lead but they couldnโt hold on to it and Morrissey forced a replay.
Scorers for Craughwell: N Healy 0-6 (0-5f); A Callanan 0-3; G OโHalloran 0-2, T Monaghan 0-1.
Scorers for Sarsfields: N Morrissey 0-8 (0-8f); A Ward, K Wade, E Cleary, J Cooney 0-1 each.

Please if you have a chance
If George Hamilton mentions Allisonโs lack of clean sheets once more tonight, Iโll make my way to Anfield to personally shove Hamiltonโs hands up his own h0le
@Ian Synnott: thatโs oddly specific
@Ave it: Hamilton is being very specific about Allisonโs lack of clean sheets.
@Ian Synnott: and fireworksโฆ
@Ian Synnott: cant listen to him anymore. Surely he means liverpoolโs and not Allisonโs. The man had like 22 of them last season. Has played f all this year. This must be why your upset ha.
@Ave it: whilst failing to recognize that this he has only played 4 games this season
@Ian Synnott: I was talking about the handsโฆ
@Ave it: ah sure, why not
@Yorkie1892: Might as well just send him out to watch the fireworks. Lug
Jรผrgen Flopp
@Joe Shea: well I donโt know what you consider a flop, but Iโll have plenty more of it.
Just look at the style of football being played man.
@Joe Shea: Good man Joe.
@Logan Shepherd: fair play logan
@Joe Shea: He has 1 less UCL trophy than Fergie from about a quarter of the attempts. Fergie, 2 from 19 = PALTRY!
@Roger Paltry: donโt u bring utd into thisโฆ Thatโs not fair .. Ur playing dirty
@Joe Shea: Do you do live gigs Joe. Youโre so funny and so original. Iโd say it would be a great night.
@Logan Shepherd: a joke is only as good as a laugh or is it other way around
@Roger Paltry: Klopp lost 8 finals in a row before he won one โฆ. you make me laugh Wroger !
@Scott Stonebridge: #fakenews. Klopp won his first final.
Someone get Keith Andrews off commentary
@Brian McGuinness: Heโs an abomination,how in the hell did he ever become analyst. The muck put of him. With his Tod Flanders hair cut.
@Brian McGuinness: heโs not as bad as David myler
@Declan O Toole: Heโs chronic
@Declan O Toole: Todd Flanders! Brilliant
@Ian Synnott: Ha ha
Canโt beat an Ox in the box.
3-1 Genk
@Fergus OโConnor: draw for sure
@Joe Shea: I see all the pundits are online tonight.
@Fergus OโConnor: Genk are not that good!
@Damian Moylan: No 1-1
Clean sheets this season is very bad. Easy goals from set pieces conceded again.
@Yorkie1892: yeah. Definitely needs ti be tightened up quick. Especially going into crimbo fixtures. Forwards get tired and cant always bail out.
Gomez and Keita not good enough for Liverpool.
