SOMETIMES, YOU REALLY don’t want to sleep on things for a night.
Jason Day played some of the best golf of his life on Thursday, shooting 10-under for his first 17 holes in the opening round of the BMW Championship.
Check it out:
An eagle on his final hole, the short par-four ninth, would have given finish with a brilliant 59 and placed him a very exclusive club.
He never got the chance to finish his round on Thursday though and, after hitting his tee-shot, weather forced play to be suspended for the rest of the evening.
Day returned early this morning where he faced this 44-yard wedge for his place in the history books:
If that was a little bit undercooked, he was desperately unlucky not to see his 10-footer for birdie hit the bottom of the cup:
Still, the 61 was the best round of Day’s PGA Tour career. He leads by four shots with Jordan Spieth and Bubba Watson among the chasing pack on six-under.
