UNKNOWN ATTACKERS FIRED at the car of Turkey international Mehmet Topal in Istanbul earlier today but the Fenerbahce midfielder escaped unhurt.
Topal was travelling home from the club’s training facility when unknown assailants opened fire on his car in the Sancaktepe neighbourhood on the Asian side of Istanbul, Fenerbahce said in a statement.
It said that Topal, who appeared to have been driving himself, escaped unhurt because his car was bulletproof.
The 29-year-old pulled his car off the road to ask for help from the police, private NTV television said.
NTV’s pictures showed a single dent on the car made by a bullet.
“This is a terrorist attack,” the club said, strongly condemning the incident. There was no immediate indication over who was behind the attack.
A bus carrying Fenerbahce players had been shot at in April as the Turkish Super Lig side returned home following an away game in the Black Sea province of Rize.
Fair few deserve less than 5, which seems to be some sort of lower threshold for some reason
@Mark Nother: can’t justify 5 for most of them, realistically a 3 or below
@Ian McLoughlin: Doherty got the gate and still picked up a 5.
A manager who cant get the best out of the players he has usually gets sacked in the end.He is a decent guy doing his best but unfortunately he doesn’t seem to be able to motivate these players to perform at a level to win games.Our defending tonight was really poor.
@Leo O Hara: yeah but he’s cheap.
Those ratings are a joke, most would get a 3 , bar Bazanu, Collins and Egan a 5 for those. Idah, o’dowda and Molumby a 2 at most. Kenny a 1. We made an average side look like prime Croatia.
