LOUTH’S CIARAN BYRNE has suffered another hamstring injury setback and will miss another 4-5 weeks of AFL action with Carlton.
Since making his debut in the AFL in April against Essendon, Byrne has been ruled out with a hamstring injury that he sustained in training in the wake of that game.
It was hoped that Byrne would have a chance to return in time for Friday’s Round 17 game against Hawthorn but he’s been hit by another hamstring injury.
“Ciaran Byrne unfortunately hurt his hamstring again,” revealed Carlton Head of Football Andrew McKay.
“Same hamstring but different spot this time, which is really unfortunate after his good game with the Northern Blues the week before.
“He’s out for 4-5 weeks, which is very unfortunate for him and for us because we were looking forward to having him back in the senior team before too long.
“But now we’re hopeful that he will find his way back just before the end of the year.”
Cork’s Ciaran Sheehan is four weeks away from a comeback from a groin injury after a frustrating 2015 campaign which he has yet to play in.
