CONOR McGREGOR IS well on track to make the 145lbs limit when he weighs in tomorrow for his interim UFC featherweight title bout against Chad Mendes.
That’s in spite of the claims of ex-UFC star Chael Sonnen, who said earlier this week that McGregor still had 27lbs to cut just eight days out from the fight.
McGregor will face Mendes at the MGM Grand on Saturday in the main event at UFC 189, and the Dubliner spoke to the media after Wednesday’s open workouts at the venue.
McGregor admitted that he had spoken to Sonnen about his weight cut but the former middleweight and light-heavyweight title challenger got the wrong end of the stick.
“I think he must have misheard what I said. I didn’t say [my weight] was that high,” said McGregor. “That’s too high this close out. I’d say I walk around at that weight. He must have just misheard me, I don’t think anything of it.
“I’m a professional in this business. I don’t mess around here. I take this game very seriously. I’m almost on point, my weight is smooth as. Don’t believe everything you hear.”
Kildare never seem to be able to kick on.
