CILLIAN O’CONNOR HAS been declared ready for action by Mayo managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes ahead of Sunday’s Connacht SFC semi-final against Galway.
O’Connor had been a doubt for the past month with a knee injury, but after coming through a challenge game against Cork last weekend, the management team were confident he’s be fit enough for championship action.
O’Connor has been named at full-forward, with veteran Andy Moran in the right corner, Jason Doherty to O’Connor’s left.
The management team have made a big call in goals, with David Clarke getting the not over usual stopper Rob Hennelly.
Keith Higgins captains the side from corner back alongside Kevin Keane, who beats Ger Cafferkey to a jersey, and Chris Barrett in the right corner, with a strong half back line of Lee Keegan, Tom Cunniffe and Colm Boyle.
Tom Parsons and Seamus O’Shea link up in midfield, with Kevin McLoughlin, Diarmuid O’Connor and Aidan O’Shea completing the half-forward line.
The starting side contains 13 players who featured in Mayo’s last Championship game, the All-Ireland semi-final replay against Kerry in 2014.
