CORK HURLING BOSS Jimmy Barry-Murphy is on the verge of losing another top player, according to morning newspaper reports.
The Examiner is suggesting that Jamie Coughlan is considering spending the rest of the summer in the United States.
Selector Johnny Crowley indicated to the newspaper that he is aware that the Newtownshandrum forward is considering the idea.
Cork have already lost Cian McCarthy to “work and other commitments” and he was followed by Conor O’Sullivan, who opted out after struggling to break into the team this year.
William Egan had been travelling and rejected an invitation from Barry-Murphy to link up with the Rebels again.
Coughlan, still only 23, was named in the starting line-up for four of Cork’s five championship matches in 2012.
However, he has not been picked from the start for the Leesiders since the 2013 All-Ireland final stalemate with Clare.
Coughlan came on as sub against Waterford in last year’s Munster championship draw, and in the All-Ireland semi-final loss at the hands of Tipperary.
Meanwhile, Cork should have Seamus Harnedy and Lorcán McLoughlin fit in time for their first All-Ireland qualifier on Saturday, 4 July.
