IT WAS ONE of the greatest controversies of the 2014 GAA season.
Mayo and Kerry finished all square in last August’s All-Ireland senior football semi-final at Croke Park but headed to Limerick for the replay six days later.
The pre-organised American football clash between University of Central Florida and Penn State meant Croke Park was out of bounds, and the decision provoked a huge outcry with Mayo supporters particularly irate.
Now the GAA have confirmed that future All-Ireland semi-final replays don’t have to played in Croke Park and that creates the potential for replays being shifted to provincial venues around the country.
The decision was taken at last Saturday’s meeting of the GAA’s Central Council.
It’s an interesting decision but do you agree with it or would you prefer replays to be held just in Croke Park?
