DARREN MCCARTHY SCORED 1-8 in a man of the match performance as Ballymartle stunned Glen Rovers in a superb comeback at Páirc Uí Rinn.
Last year’s beaten county finalists led by seven points at the break, and by five with as little as 15 minutes remaining.
But goals from Johnny Wallace and then McCarthy helped Ballymartle turn things around and get their revenge for last year’s quarter-final loss.
Rebels star Patrick Horgan scored seven points in the first half, four from play, as the Glen took an 0-16 to 0-9 lead into the interval.
A Horgan 65 and a free, and a point from Jack Dwyer, helped keep the Ballymartle revival at arm’s length.
But the Riverstick men outscored them by 2-5 to 0-4 in the final stretch to seal a two-point win and book their place in Round 4.
Earlier Mark Dolan got the only goal as Douglas beat St Finbarr’s by 1-14 to 0-9, while Erins Own ran out comfortable winners against Carrigtwohill.
Here’s the draw for the second round:
