MELBOURNE VICTORY WERE comfortable winners in this morning’s A-League final, beating Sydney FC 3 – 0 on home turf.
However, the trophy presentation was particularly painful for one Sydney resident, PFA chairman – and one of the richest men in Australia – Frank Lowy.
The shopping centre mogul was just planting a hand on the silverware before presenting it to Victory, when this happened.
And if you’re as sadistic as the people who posted this clip to YouTube, you’ll want to watch it as often as they did – front ways, rewinding, freeze-framing – while losing their breath with the giggles.
Thankfully, Lowy’s leap left him mostly unscathed. After being tended to by paramedics the 84-year-old got up and completed the trophy presentation to the awaiting Victory players. He reportedly left the field unassisted and complained of just a sore shoulder.
Tough old bugger.
