Manny Pacquiao: will he face Money again?
Recovery

Could this latest development pave the way for a Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch?

Manny Pacquiao will start the road to recovery after he received surgery to his injured right shoulder in Los Angeles.

MANNY PACQUIAO HAS undergone successful surgery on his injured right shoulder, four days after his unanimous points defeat to Floyd Mayweather.

The Filipino fighter sustained the injury in training before the 2 May fight, which was the richest bout in boxing history.

After the loss to Mayweather – which saw the American stay unbeaten after 48 fights – Pacquiao claimed the injury restricted the use of his right hand.

A statement on Pacquiao’s official website stated that the surgery, which took place on Wednesday, has a recovery time of between four and six months.

The statement added: “Manny Pacquiao underwent surgery on his ailing right shoulder Wednesday in Los Angeles, and his doctor said he ‘could not be more pleased’ with the results for the record eight-division world champion.

“The operation was performed by orthopedist Dr Neal ElAttrache, who said Pacquiao will make a full recovery and return to the ring.”

Pacquiao’s injury has caused controversy, with two Las Vegas residents having filed a class-action lawsuit against the 36-year-old for failing to disclose his injury before the fight.
