IT HAS BEEN billed as the fight of the century, but Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach has mischievously suggested that Floyd Mayweather could back out before the duo face off in Las Vegas on Saturday.
In an interview with USA Today, Roach admitted he still is not convinced that Mayweather will actually fight Pacquiao.
Asked about his thoughts on the fight, he interjected: “If [Mayweather] shows up. I am still worried about that.
I won’t believe it until I see him in front of us in the ring.
Roach is insistent that he has legitimate concerns over whether Mayweather will show up to the fight.
“I just think he was forced into this fight,” Roach said.
“He didn’t want this fight. Every fight he has had in his lifetime was one that he picked.
This is the first one he was forced into and I feel he was uncomfortable. They made him take it, Showtime.
It would be a costly leave for Mayweather if he does decide to skip it as he is set to make more than $150 million from this fight.
