An Irish star absolutely dominated Sky's sportswoman of the month vote

Alison Miller took a landslide victory in the public vote.

ALISON MILLER HAS been named the Sky Sports sportswomen of the month for March after winning the public vote by a landslide margin.

The Connacht wing was integral as Ireland secured the Six Nations title last month, scoring a hattrick in the final-day 73-3 hammering of Scotland.

Miller also scored a try in the vital away win against Wales, and has been a hugely consistent performer and try-scorer in Ireland colours in recent seasons.

The Portlaoise wing was a dominant winner of Sky’s public vote for March, picking up no less than 82% of the vote. Second-placed Lianne Sanderson, a professional footballer with England and Arsenal, was some distance behind with 13%.

Miller and her Ireland teammates now face the concerning prospect of not playing a competitive international rugby Test until next year, such is the scarcity of such fixtures in women’s rugby.

Developing a series of summer or November Tests is surely the next step for a sport that continues to grow. Miller, as underlined by her landslide win, is among the stars of Irish women’s rugby and requires more regular games to show off her ability.

Munster won’t be signing this Argentinian transfer target

No matter how much the media keep trying to push women’s sport, they will ever be as popular as the men’s version. #reality

France were at a different level. You can’t be that late arriving at the rucks and very very loose line in defense against that side.

@Tommy C: Two trys from pillar in the ruck being asleep. Even with 14 France were far more composed. France pack we’re very impressive and some great offloading in the tackle.

Well beaten with some unacceptable individual errors. New coach on the cards imo.

@James Hughes: crash ball constantly, even when played out the line. No plan re the backs. Don’t get me wrong, strong performance, just lacking conviction in vital areas that let us down.

What an utterly crazy red card. Ireland were well beaten but that was a shocking decision by the referee. If it had changed the direction of the game it would have been a complete travesty.

Reminds me of the many years in the Ireland v France men’s game when we were routinely destroyed, disgraced… Worse than that, Scotland Wales etc had no such problem – it seemed to be that a blue jersey was enough to terrorise us. The Scots, unlike us, had a hang-up about England. Stick at it ladies – you can make things change
