FOR A WHILE it looked like last August’s tears would be our last sight of Alan Brogan in a Dublin jersey but the three-time Allstar is set to rejoin the panel next week, according to manager Jim Gavin.
Speaking to 98fm after Dublin’s comprehensive win over Monaghan earlier, Gavin said that the plan was always for Brogan to come back into the set-up after the initial phase of the league.
“Back after this game, that was always the plan over the last number of weeks,” Gavin said when asked if Brogan was coming back.
“The plan was for a long time Alan joins us next week, after the normal rounds of the national league, so he’ll be reintroduced to the squad next week.”
Brogan has been one of Dublin’s most consistent performers since making his inter-county debut in 2002 but he faces a tough battle to win a place in the starting team given the competition for places up front.
Maybe if he continues with his unorthodox training methods it could give him an edge over his rivals…
Dublin will play Monaghan again in the Division One semi-final next weekend.
