Premier Division's top three handed away draws in FAI Cup quarter-finals

Dundalk, Cork City and Waterford will all be taking to the road for the next stage of the competition.

A FOURTH CONSECUTIVE FAI Cup final between Cork City and Dundalk remains a possibility after the two clubs were again kept apart in this evening’s quarter-final draw.

City are chasing a three-in-a-row after rebounding from their 2015 defeat to the Lilywhites by winning the competition for the past two seasons.

The 2017 double winners, who are second to Dundalk in the league table, will resume their defence of the cup with a trip to City Calling Stadium to take on First Division outfit Longford Town.

UCD, the only other second-tier side still in the competition, will also have home advantage against top-flight opposition when they host third-placed Waterford.

Dundalk will travel to face relegation-threatened Limerick, while the most evenly-matched tie of the round will see Derry City welcome Bohemians to the Brandywell.

The games are scheduled to be played on the weekend of 7-9 September.
