Dublin to face Carlow or Wexford in 2017 football opener, Mayo pitted with Sligo or New York

Elsewhere, Ulster champions Tyrone will face Derry in their opening fixture, with the traditional ‘big two’ kept apart until a potential final in Munster.

ALL-IRELAND AND Leinster senior football kingpins Dublin have been pitted against Carlow or Wexford in their opening fixture of championship 2017.

The Sky Blues, chasing a seventh successive provincial crown, will be red-hot favourites to advance to a semi-final clash with Offaly or Westmeath.

On the other side of the Leinster draw, Louth and Wicklow will meet in the first round, with the winners to play Meath, while Laois and Longford will battle it out for a clash with Kildare.

Beaten All-Ireland finalists Mayo will open their campaign in Connacht against Sligo or New York, with holders Galway waiting for the winners.

Roscommon will face the winners of Leitrim and London in the other semi-final.

The Ulster championship has thrown up a heavyweight clash between holders Tyrone and Derry at the quarter-final stage, with the winners of that fixture to face Donegal or Antrim in the provincial semi-finals.

Monaghan and Fermanagh will meet in the preliminary round and the reward for the victors there is a showdown with Cavan.

On the same side of the draw, Down will face off against Armagh at the quarter-final stage.

In Munster, the traditional ‘big two’, Kerry and Cork, have avoided each other until a potential final.

Cork will play Waterford at the quarter-final stage, with the winners to face 2016 runners-up Tipperary.

In the other quarter-final, it’s Clare against Limerick and the reward for the victors is a last four showdown with provincial champions Kerry.
