ITโS NOT SURPRISING that the climax to just the third-ever Premier League season lives long in the memory.
Not only was it Blackburnโs first and only title win so far, but it was also a highly entertaining conclusion.
Blackburn needed to beat Liverpool to guarantee glory, however their 2-1 loss ultimately did not matter, owing to title rivals Man Unitedโs failure to beat West Ham.
It was a moment to savour for the late Jack Walker, the late owner who had helped the club become a major force in the top flight by signing high-profile stars such as Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton.
and poor Alan went on to waste his career at Newcastle instead of United.
And Liverpool fans celebrated as if they had won the title.
Some performance from Ludo Miklosko and the Hammer defence that day.
Well they had resigned them selves the letting their bitter rivals win the league by being professions and doing their best to winโฆโฆ Of course they were delighted when they blew it.
Oh nobody could fault Liverpool FC, or their fans joy at their bitter rivals losing out :)
Itโs all part of the game (heck I even liked the bitter blues winning last year)
It was a weird day. Liverpool fans wanted Blackburn to beat them so that United would lose the title. They were fairly worried when Liverpool came back and won the match and nearly handed the title to United!
Different era almost, a team won the title yet nobody fancied them to reclaim it the following season just like Leeds in 92. They still had Shearer for one more season yet finished mid-table. The failure of Newcastle in 96 probably ended the days of once off champions like this
