HE WON TWO Munster senior hurling medals and National League titles as a player along with three Allstar awards and is regarded as one of the greatest hurlers not to win an All-Ireland senior medal.
Ciarán Carey’s brilliant career with the Limerick hurlers is recognised on TG4′s Laochra Gael series tomorrow night at 8pm.
Here’s a taste of what to expect.
The programme will be repeated next Sunday afternoon at 5.55pm and we’re willing to wager that famous point that snatched victory for Limerick against Clare in 1996 will get a mention.

A truly magnificent hurler and a gentleman too. That point against Clare in ’96 was probably the greatest individual score I have ever seen in a knock out championship game. Can still remember the commentary from Ger Canning when he caught the puck out from Davy Fitz – “here comes Ciaran Carey… Carey, leading the charge of the light brigade…!”. 19 years ago – I feel old now.
Must be one of the greatest scores of all time.
Ohh look Robsonkeane is from Limerick again
His nephew Cian Lynch is on the senior panel this year an is an absolute Rolls Royce of a hurler.
There isn’t a GAA man or woman in Limerick that isn’t looking forward to this. Such a shame he never won Al all Ireland medal. One of the best hurlers in the country in his day and not a bad soccer player either!!!!
Still get the goosebumps watching that point from the 96 munster semi final.
im as kiddy as a school girl cant wait to watch this
Great player
A top player Mick, an absolutely top, top player.
