THE PREMIER LEAGUE are preparing to sell the rights to their games for the 2016-2019 period and apparently they want to introduce a small number of Friday night games every season.
Midweek football is always a special treat so the prospect of fans getting to watch games on Friday night as well is probably one that will be welcomed by the vast majority.
There will always be traditionalists/curmudgeons who want every single game on at 3pm on a Saturday and with none of them on television but there will be no better way to start off your weekend than watching some Premier League action.
According to the BBC, the Premier League also want to continue the aforementioned practice of having a blackout of the 3pm games.
Of course, these proposals are for 2016-2019 so we won’t get to watch teams under Friday night lights for another two years.
Still, it is something to look forward to and we are probably only ten years away from having Premier League matches staggered across all seven days of the week.
If this proposal does go ahead, it could be very bad news for the League of Ireland, who play the vast majority of games on a Friday.
Would you be in favour of Friday night games?
