THE DONEGAL SENIOR Football Final is set to go ahead on Sunday after Naomh Conaill’s appeal was thrown out last night.
The Glenties club lost to Glenswilly in the semi-finals but moved to have the game replayed on the grounds that Glenswilly’s Ciaran Bonner should have been sent off.
Bonner was shown a black card two minutes from time, but Naomh Conaill claimed that he had had previously been yellow-carded and so substitute Oisin Crawford should not have been allowed to come on in his place.
Crawford scored a late point as Glenswilly won by 0-10 to 0-8.
The Donegal CCC met last night to hear the appeal but rejected it. As things stand, Sunday’s final between St Eunan’s and Glenswilly is set to go ahead in Ballybofey on Sunday (4pm) although Naomh Conaill can pursue their appeal at provincial level in the hope of a late reprieve.
