RED BULL HAVE secured pole position for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, though for once it was Mark Webber’s turn to grab the advantage and not his team-mate Sebastian Vettel.
Vettel had only been beaten to pole once is eight previous races but Webber pipped him by 0.032s, with the Ferrari duo of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa taking the second row of the grid in third and fourth respectively.
It was a poor qualifying session for McLaren, however. Jenson Button could only managed fifth on the grid while the beleaguered Lewis Hamilton starts in tenth, behind the likes of Paul di Resta of Force India (sixth) and Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber (eighth).
Before qualifying, Red Bull and McLaren became embroiled in a row over a rule change that Christian Horner feels could have a detrimental effect on his team’s chances of holding on to their title.
