NEIL LENNON HAS been appointed as manager of Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
The former Celtic boss officially takes charge from tomorrow with his first game away to Birmingham next Saturday.
Bolton are currently sitting bottom of the table with just five points from 11 games and have racked up just one victory so far. Having narrowly missed out on a play-off place in 2012, the club have struggled since and finished 14th last season. Dougie Freedman had been in charge for almost years but was sacked earlier this month.
Understandably, there had been substantial interest in the job with Chris Hughton, Steve Clarke and Tony Mowbray all being linked though Lennon was always in the frame too. Having endured a frustrating period out of the game since leaving Celtic six months ago, the Northern Irishman will hope to keep his new club in the second tier – they haven’t been lower than that since 1992.
He’ll be joined at Bolton by his assistant manager Johan Mjallby and first team coach Garry Parker.
