PADDY BARNES RETAINED his Commonwealth Games gold medal this afternoon by beating Devandro Laishram in the final of the light-flyweight division.
Belfast fighter Barnes – who has twice won bronze for Ireland at the Olympics – is representing the Northern Ireland team at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, but didn’t appear too impressed with Team NI’s Londonderry Air victory anthem.
Michael Conlan also secured a gold medal in the boxing today, while Michaela Walsh and Joe Fitzpatrick won silver.
