TRIPLE JUMPER CHRYSOPIGI Devetzi has committed a third doping offence after the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) re-analysis of her sample from Beijing 2008 returned an adverse finding.
Earlier this year the Greek athlete was stripped of her bronze medal from the Games in Beijing after a failed drugs test at the 2007 World Championships resulted in the IAAF disqualifying her results between 31 August, 2007 and 30 August, 2009.
Devetzi was also banned from competing at London 2012 as part of a two-year ban for “failure to submit to sample collection” in May 2009.

Her latest misdemeanour relates to the re-analysis of her sample from Beijing 2008, which tested posted for stanozolol, a synthetic anabolic steroid.
Devetzi, now 41, is one of 16 athletes to be sanctioned in relation to the Games in China, nine of whom were medallists in their respective sports and have consequently been stripped of their honours.
Russian athletes Khadzhimurat Akkaev, Khasan Baroev, Dmitry Lapikov and Elena Slesarenko tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol), an androgenic anabolic steroid.
Three competitors from Ukraine were also found to have used the same substance during the Games — weightlifter Natalya Davydova, high jumper Vita Palamar and pole vaulter Denys Yurchenko.
Like Devetzi, the use of stanozolol was behind the sanctions for Asset Mambetov, Maya Maneza, Irina Nekrassova and Vladimir Sedov, while their Kazakh compatriot Mariya Grabovetskaya was found to have taken dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol), oxandrolone and stanozolol.
Belarus’ Iryna Kulesha and Vitaliy Rahimov of Azerbaijan also tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol), while weightlifer Nizami Pashayev, also from Azerbaijan, was found to have taken the same substances as Grabovetskaya.
