SHANE LOWRY IS in good form on moving day at the Scottish Open. The Offaly golfer shot 68 for the second day running and is on -5 going into the final round.
Lowry is six shots adrift of local golfer Marc Warren, who is midway through his round, while Kristoffer Broberg [-10], Ricardo Gonzalez [-9] and Justin Rose [-8] are lurking nearby.
Lowry recorded only nine pars in 18 holes, carding three bogeys but six birdies too. He did not picked up a shot over any of the closing holes on days one and so it proved again this evening.
Rory McIlroy dropped to +1 after his first hole today and the gallery may have suspected he was in for another tough afternoon, following his 78 on Friday. McIlroy’s third round was closer to his first round 64, however, as he played steadily thereafter. The world number eight picked up four birdies and carded 13 pars in a satisfactory round of 68.
Darren Clarke hit a 70 to go to -1 overall while Gareth Maybin is one shot back after his round of 69. Padraig Harrington is on +1 while Damien McGrane [+4] and Kevin Phelan [+5] are further adrift.
