DROGHEDA UNITEDโS GARY OโNeill made a goalscoring return to football last night.
The 31-year-old striker came off the bench at half-time in the 5-1 friendly win over Leinster Senior League outfit Glebe North and received a warm reception from those present at Market Green before marking his comeback with a goal.
On 67 minutes, OโNeill controlled the ball with his chest and fired a dipping volley past the Glebe goalkeeper Alan OโConnor from 30 yards.
It was his first appearance for Drogs since being diagnosed with testicular cancer back in September and also Robbie Horganโs managerial debut for the Louth club.
Having come through surgery successfully, it was announced earlier this month that OโNeill had re-signed with the Airtricity League Premier Division side as a player-coach for the upcoming season.
