THE NEW ZEALAND MAORI wiped the rugby floor with Canada in Toronto at the weekend. The closest the Canucks ever got to the visitors was before kick-off, when they faced down a fearsome Haka.
All Blacks scrumhalf, and occasional goalkicking hero, Piri Weepu was on duty with the Maoris and led his teammates in their traditional pre-match war dance. The visitors featured internationals such as Zac Guildford and Hika Elliot in the 40 — 15 blow-out.
In the lead-up to the game, Weepu took time out to speak to a Canadian sports broadcaster about the Haka. Asked to explain its meaning, the World Cup winner responded, “Most of the time, it’s like ‘I’m going to rip your head off’.”
Weepu was joined for the ‘how to’ by three members of the Toronto Argonauts Canadian Football League team. Their stumbling efforts were only rescued by the late intervention of Elliot, who got his warface on.

Not sure if you actually watched the game but it wasn’t as one sided as the score suggested. Canada played some lovely running rugby for the first 60 minutes but where ultimately let down by a terrible amount of handling errors.
I dunno Barrry. I was at the game and they were pretty poor. The Maoris were able to beat them in 3rd gear in my opinion.
Look at the fourth Maori on the far side, the chap doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing! Hahaha
Haka is a wonderful spectical no doubt but doesnt belong in sport …
