TWITTER IS NO place for a sportsperson to be hanging out unless they hold an absolutely supreme confidence in their own ability.
Lee Westwood ended his weekend at the PGA Championship with a stuttering round of 76. Six over for the day at 33rd in the leaderboard, the Englishman is looking at another long winter without a major victory to his name.
And a certain population of Twitter was never going to let that fact pass him by. But rather than turn is phone off and count his annual winnings, Westie bit back last night.
In what we can only describe as a tirade, the Nottingham man spewed bile at the ‘trolls’ criticising him and resisted some calls to clam down.
In the end, he stepped back from Twitter with the words: ‘Not been hacked. Just honest. Bored now. Westy out..”

Westwood has backtracked from his ‘out of character’ comments and offered some selective apologies.
