Irish player Tuohy kicks 'sensational goal' but Carlton fall to heavy AFL defeat in Perth

Carlton crashed to a 131-62 loss against the West Coast Eagles.

LAOIS MAN ZACH Tuohy grabbed another goal in the AFL this morning but it couldn’t stop his side falling to a heavy defeat against the West Coast Eagles in Perth.

After last week’s 105-78 loss to Richmond Tigers, Carlton were aiming to bounce back but instead they were convincingly defeated 131-62.

Former Carlton player Josh Kennedy kicked 10 goals for the Eagles as they cruised to victory.

Carlton had started brightly with Tuohy catching the eye with his goal, his second in as many games.

Carlton had been in front 37-25 after the opening quarter but trailed 50-37 at the midway mark. Tuohy had been one of their leading players in that period.

But Carlton collapsed in the second-half as the West Coast Eagles took over. Defeat will put further pressure on Carlton coach Mick Malthouse and it’s Essendon next up in Round 3 on 18 April as they seek an opening league win.

Another Irish player is set to make his Aussie Rules debut for Carlton this year
