Which teams could Ireland potentially face in the World Cup play-offs?

Martin O’Neill’s outfit will be one of the four unseeded teams in the draw.

NOW THAT WE’VE all caught our breaths, attention turns to the play-off scenario that awaits the Republic of Ireland.

So, who can we face?

Well, we’re now confirmed as an unseeded team for the draw and we certainly know the teams the Irish won’t face.

Northern Ireland is one while it looks like – barring some miracles – Sweden and Greece will also be in the pot.

So, that means our possible opponents will be one of the seeded teams and, still with some business to be concluded in Group B, they are:

Portugal or Switzerland
Italy
Croatia
Denmark

The play-off draw will take place on 17 October and the two-legged games will be played in mid-November.

What’s your preference?
