WHILE HIS NEW club Manchester City were heading for an FA Cup exit after defeat to Middlesbrough, Wilfried Bony was lining out for his native Ivory Coast this afternoon.
Having failed to beat Guinea in their opening African Cup of Nations group game, the Elephants faced Mali and although Bony didn’t get on the scoresheet, he was responsibly for one moment of brilliance with an ‘elastico’ nutmeg.
It’s just as good from another angle:
The Ivory Coast again left it late before rescuing a precious 1-1 draw and looked set to suffer a huge setback as, despite dominating possession, they struggled to find a response to Bakary Sako’s early opener.
However, substitute Max Gradel fired home with three minutes remaining following a cutback from Serge Aurier, providing a welcome boost to the their qualification hopes.
Serious tekkers!
“Lights up the African cup of nations”
Really? Meh!
