WEXFORD YOUTHS WRAPPED up the SSE Airtricity League First Division and promotion to the top flight with a 3-0 victory over Athlone Town last Friday.

This evening, the entire squad and management team will be treated to a celebratory night at Tides Gastro Pub in Rosslare — which is owned by former Ireland winger Stephen Hunt.

Currently without a club, the ex-Reading and Wolves man has been training with Shane Keegan’s men for the past couple of months and praised their professionalism in a tweet last week.

Having promised to host a party if their title challenge was successful sometime ago, Hunt will host the Youths tonight.

“Stephen has been brilliant,” Keegan told The42. ”He has been training with us for the past three months or so and he said about two months ago that if we go and win the First Division then he would hold a bit of a do for us in his place.

“He has got a fantastic place down in Rosslare, Tide’s Bar & Bistro. So he is holding a night for us and footing the bill for the food and all.”
