WEST HAM YOUNGSTER Jaanai Gordon has signed for Sligo Rovers on loan until the end of August, it has been confirmed.

The 20-year-old striker joined West Ham from Peterborough in 2014, after a successful trial with the Hammers. He has yet to make a first-team appearance for Slaven Bilic’s side and previously had loan spells at Chelmsford City and Nuneaton Town.

Gordon previously made his debut in the Championship as a 16-year-old for Peterborough, appearing seven times in total for The Posh before joining the Premier League outfit.

Having scored four goals in 10 games for West Ham’s Development Squad this season, he becomes Sligo’s 14th signing, as their 2016 squad takes shape.

Looking at it from a logical point of view, Na Piarsaigh are the team best placed to end Limerick’s All Ireland club hard luck story. Peter Casey is an absolute gem of a player – Cyril Farrell was waxing lyrical about him on the Sunday Game two weeks ago and that’s high praise.
