THE EUROPA LEAGUE play-offs took centre stage this evening with a host of teams in action and West Ham struggled away to Romanian side Astra Giurgiu.
Mark Noble did give Slaven Bilic’s side the lead just before the break but the hosts equalised with seven minutes remaining.
The Hammers do have an away goal in the bag but the tie is in the balance as the teams return to London.
It was a difficult evening for two sides relatively well-known to Irish football fans.
BATE Borisov, who were eliminated by Dundalk in the Champions League qualifying stages, suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Astana.
While Genk, who overcame Cork City in the last round of Europa League qualifying, drew 2-2 with NK Lokomotiva.
