WE’RE NOT QUITE up to speed on the intricacies of the latest WWE scripts and storylines. To be honest, we’re not really that interested.
But here’s what we do know. Last night, Wayne Rooney slapped a man on TV.
The England captain was ringside with son Kai for a special edition of Monday Night Raw in Manchester when he was taunted by Wade Barrett, who stands at a not inconsiderable 6 foot 7.
Barrett, who is from Lancashire, said: “In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material… which is more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.
“I would offer to have you step inside this ring so we can fight this out like men.
I would offer — but I’d hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail because, let’s face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch.
Barrett then climbed down to stand face-to-face with Rooney, who slapped him and sent him sprawling like Ashley Young caught in a gust of wind.
Barrett tried to save some face by later tweeting: “I’m heading to Old Trafford early tomorrow morning. I hope @WayneRooney has the guts to meet me there.
He added: “Does anyone have Phil Bardsley’s number,” a reference to the infamous video which saw Rooney KOd while playacting with his former team-mate.
Joke’s on you though, Wade — it’s the international break this week.
It should have been brought forward 24 hours
that’s what happens when majority of county GAA ground have the infrastructure and facilities of a club in the 1970s.
They can plat it in Sept neither side gonna win anything
@Sean Nihill: play it even
@Sean Nihill: what a ridiculous statement.
@Sean Nihill: will Clare have the bottle to win two in a row, something they’ve never been good enough to do? The top teams like Kilkenny and Limerick have done two, three, four in a row. Tony Kelly has never even won a Munster title either.
@Aidan Farrell: And Cork
@Sean Nihill: the best hurling team of all time wins nothing
@Sean Nihill: Clare going well in the League eh? Played 3 Lost 3. Looks like they cooked their goose last year!!
@Lulu: it’s only the league, shadow boxing, every team trying out players, only thing that matters is Championship.
@Michael Kennedy: Clare had their first team out with home advantage & still lost !
@Lulu: didn’t see their team, doubt they’ll be overly worried
League champions in danger being releagted and losing league tilte
@Michael Kennedy: Trouble in the camp apparently!
@Lulu: ah stop, always these types of rumours this time of year, fully expect a robust defence of Liam MacCarthy and I’m from Limerick.
No tarps for the fields over there?
