Video emerges which seems to show Wayne Rooney being knocked out by Phil Bardsley

The United striker is caught by a left-hand jab and lies motionless on the ground.

IT’S HARDLY GOING to go down well with his manager.

The Sun on Sunday has got hold of a video clip which seems to show Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney getting knocked out by Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley.

The footage lasts for just over a minute and shows the pair engaging in some sparring at Rooney’s Cheshire home, reportedly on 22nd February – the day after United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Swansea in the Premier League.

In what looks like Rooney’s kitchen, he and Bardsley throw a couple of mild punches at each other and grapple before Bardsley catches his former United team-mate with a left-hand jab.

Rooney falls backwards immediately, crashing to the floor and lies motionless before the video ends.

The incident didn’t seem to do the attacker much harm though. Six days after it allegedly happened, he scored twice in an excellent display against Sunderland at Old Trafford.

Like Fergie before him, does Mourinho need to reconsider his approach in Europe?
