WAYNE ROONEY RETURNED to Goodison Park this afternoon as he made a second-half appearance during Duncan Ferguson’s testimonial.
Ferguson, who is now part of Roberto Martinez’s coaching staff, made 273 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 72 goals, during more than a decade on Merseyside.

The former striker was introduced for the final few minutes of Everton’s 2-1 defeat to Villarreal but it was Rooney’s arrival which caused the biggest stir of the day.
The Man United captain came off the bench for the final 16 minutes and received a mixed reception from the Goodison faithful.
A mixture of cheers and boos greeted his introduction as he pulled on the blue for the first time since his departure in 2004.

Rooney was invited to partake by former team-mate, and close friend, Ferguson but was unable to save his boyhood club from defeat.
The Spanish visitors went into a two goal lead through Gerard and MatiasNahuel before Tyias Browning pulled one back for the hosts late on.
