Is Vinnie Jones about to utter the immortal line 'You are an ostrich' on the big screen?

The footballer-turned-actor is tipped to play Nigel Pearson in the proposed film about Jamie Vardy.

THE JAMIE VARDY movie is gathering speed.

The screenwriter and producer of the as-yet-untitled film, Adrian Butchart, has said he hopes to get the cameras rolling before the end of the year with the finished version being released sometime in 2017.

Regarding casting, there’s still no word on who will play Vardy – affectionately dubbed ‘a magnificent horse’ by his manager, Claudio Ranieri. Those in the running, according to speculation, include One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and Robert Pattinson.

But word has filtered through about one particular role – that of ex-Foxes boss Nigel Pearson who signed Vardy for the club from non-league Fleetwood in 2012.

Producers are reportedly quite interested in Vinnie Jones to play Ranieri’s predecessor, who was sacked last summer.

This would be sensational.

If only for that scene where Jones, with the steely gaze and gravelly voice – gets into a tete-a-tete with a local journalist before delivering that most iconic putdown – ‘You are an ostrich’.

It’s basically the end of Notting Hill, isn’t it?
