ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP president Dana White confirmed a date and venue overnight for the meeting of UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and interim title-holder Conor McGregor.
Arguably the most-anticipated bout in mixed martial arts history is set to take place at UFC 194 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, 12 December.
There had been speculation that undefeated women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey would be putting her belt on the line on the same card. However, while White has ruled that out, it does look like there will be another title bout on the UFC 194 bill instead.

According to MMA writer Jeremy Botter, who reports for Bleacher Report, UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum will be defending his belt for the first time on the same night.
Werdum caused a major shock when he submitted Cain Velasquez at UFC 188 in June, but Botter says Velasquez will be handed a rematch on 12 December, while Rousey versus Miesha Tate and middleweight champion Chris Weidman versus Luke Rockhold will both take place on 2 January.

There’s been no official announcement on that from the UFC as of yet, but Vegas-based Botter is one of MMA’s most highly-regarded reporters whose information is rarely wide of the mark. He also insisted that talk of a Werdum/Velasquez rematch at UFC 194 is not merely a rumour.
Last month’s UFC 189 in Las Vegas, which was headlined by Conor McGregor’s interim featherweight title victory against Chad Mendes, was described by many as the biggest event in the history of the UFC.
However, if UFC 194 is to feature McGregor/Aldo and Werdum/Velasquez title bouts, the organisation may well surpass that before the year is even out.
