Sire De Grugy was in pursuit throughout but Ruby Walsh made sure the win was his. Traffic Fluide came in third.
“I was lucky enough to ride Master Minded and Azertyuiop and rode against Moscow Flyer,” said Walsh, “so I’ve ridden some great horses, but he has all the attributes – he stays really well and has a good turn of foot.
“Today was important, with such a good horse you want to be winning these big races and with it going wrong in Leopardstown it is great to come and do that.”
Earlier, Mullins saw another of his charges come home in first under Walsh.
Vroum Vroum Mag made it eight in a row in the OLBG.com Mares’ Hurdle. It was the first attempt at the three-mile distance but the 4-6 favourite made it look easy.
