Irish rugby's recruitment drive isn't slowing down as two Premiership players make the switch

Ulster have acquired two players from London Welsh.

THEY MIGHT NOT be on the same scale level as the two All Blacks who agreed to play in Ireland last week, but Ulster have still added two Premiership players to their squad ahead of next season.

London Welsh scrum-half Paul Rowley and second row club-mate Peter Browne have agreed to join the northern province. Browne has played for Newcastle and Harlequins and has spent his last three years at London Welsh.

He has represented the England schools side but his eligible for Ireland through is father.

Rowley was previously in the Munster academy before joining Plymouth in 2011. This is his first season with the Premiership side.

“He [Rowley] possesses an all round game with control being at the forefront of his skill set. He will aim to put pressure on Paul Marshall and provide a slightly different option with his left-footed kicking from behind the pack,” Ulster manager Bryn Cunningham said.

Cunningham then described what Browne can bring to Ulster.

“With a stature of 6’7”, it is his athleticism and ball carrying that really stand out, allied to being an excellent line out option. He comes with a great attitude as somebody confident and extremely professional in his approach to the game.”

London Welsh have lost all 18 of their league games this season and have already been relegated from the Premiership.
