From UFC to WWE? Triple H opens door to McGregor appearance

Paul Michael Levesque is adamant the Irishman would succeed in wrestling.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS star Conor McGregor has been offered a route into WWE, with vice-president of talent and wrestling icon Paul Michael Levesque talking up a crossover appearance.

McGregor made history at UFC 205 on Saturday, becoming the first fighter to simultaneously hold belts in two weight divisions after knocking out lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez inside two rounds in New York.

The poster boy of UFC, however, is not completely happy, with McGregor demanding a greater share of profits after the mixed martial arts promotion company was sold for $4billion in July.

And WWE is ready to get a piece of McGregor, with Levesque — better known as ‘Triple H’ — insisting the Irishman would succeed in wrestling.

“He could come over, he’s got it all, man — he’s got the personality, the skills, the talk. He’s an entertainer, for sure,” Levesque told the Telegraph, having been a guest at Madison Square Garden.

What does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don’t need to be 300lbs anymore.”

McGregor could follow in the footsteps of retired five-division world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr, who appeared at WrestleMania XXIV in 2008, defeating ‘The Big Show’ in a no-disqualification match.

Levesque continued: “He could do just as well as Floyd Mayweather when he fought the Big Show. That really worked. Conor could do it for sure.”
