AFTER STEPPING IN on short notice to replace the injured Matt Brown, Neil Magny secured his 10th UFC win in last night’s main event at the finale of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 in Monterrey, Mexico.
Magny, who was fighting for the fifth time this year, deservedly defeated Kelvin Gastelum over five rounds, despite one judge scoring the bout in favour of Gastelum. The 28-year-old American welterweight took his UFC record to 10-3 after winning via split decision on scores of 48-47, 48-47, 47-48.

Elsewhere on the main card, which consisted of six bouts that all lasted the distance, Ricardo Lamas got back to winning ways by denying Diego Sanchez the honour of becoming the first man in UFC history to win in four different weight classes, while Henry Cejudo overcame Jussier Formiga to enhance his credentials as a flyweight title contender.
Polo Reyes picked up the first stoppage of the night when he sent Cesar Arzamendia crashing with a one-punch KO in the first round of their bout on the Fight Pass prelims.
Also on Fight Pass, Alvaro Herrera needed just 30 seconds to dispose of Vernon Ramos in devastating fashion thanks to an impressive right uppercut-and-hook combination.
Andre Fili also had a spectacular victory in the first round, hurting Gabriel Benitez with a head-kick before finishing the job with a flurry of punches against the fence.
