CONOR McGREGOR AND Demetrious Johnson don’t have much in common when it comes to their approach to promoting themselves, but the reigning UFC flyweight world champion appears to be a fan of the Dubliner’s personality nevertheless.

Johnson, who’s currently ranked as the UFC’s second-best pound-for-pound fighter — behind McGregor’s next opponent Jose Aldo — is undefeated since 2011 and remains the only 125lbs champion in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In spite of his remarkable talents inside the octagon, Johnson doesn’t attract much publicity due to his reputation as a family man who prefers to keep a low profile between fights.

But that hasn’t stopped him from admiring how McGregor has used his ability as a talker, as well as a fighter, to rise rapidly to the top.

“I think Conor McGregor is a fantastic athlete and promoter. I have nothing but love for the guy, he’s great,” said Johnson, while appearing as a guest on Submission Radio.

“Me and my wife have been watching ‘The Notorious’ documentary and it’s just interesting; you know, that’s who Conor McGregor is. I don’t think it’s an act, I don’t think it’s a front, I think he truly believes what he says.

“There’s nothing wrong with that. If that’s where he was raised and brought up from, that’s totally fine.”
