Today in New York, McGregor tipped the scales at 154.4lbs ahead of his lightweight title bout against Eddie Alvarez tomorrow night at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden. Alvarez [154.6lbs] also weighed in below the lightweight limit of 155lbs.
However, tomorrow night’s card has lost another fight due to Kelvin Gastelum’s failure to make weight. Gastelum opted not to weigh in so his bout against Donald Cerrone has now been cancelled. As a result, five bouts will take place on the main card instead of six as the UFC have not opted to move any of the prelims.
Cerrone on if he would fight next week at UFC Belfast: "Oh, no. Fuck those Irish motherfuckers."
Thiago Alves also missed weight for his lightweight clash with Jim Miller but the bout will still go ahead. Miller added weight in order to ensure that the fight still happened as the commission requires opposing fighters to be within five pounds of each other.
Alves loses 20% of his purse but Miller was exempt from a fine. Alves, who came in at 162.6lbs, is also prohibited from weighing more than 173lbs on fight night. Earlier this week, another UFC 205 fight was lost when a medical issue forced Rashad Evans out of his clash with Tim Kennedy.
The ceremonial weigh-ins in front of the fans take place tonight at Madison Square Garden at 11pm Irish time but the fighters are not required to be on weight any longer.
