MARK BOLAND’S LATE winner snatched the Collingwood Cup for UCD in a thrilling finish.

Supersub Boland struck in the 89th minute to beat UL keeper Andrew Walsh and continue the Dubliners’ dominance of the third-level competition.

Limerick FC striker Garbhan Coughlan put UL into an early lead with a crisp half-volley just 21 minutes into this afternoon’s final in the Mardyke in Cork.

The Munster men arguably had the better of the chances in the remainder of that first half with Brian Nolan rattling Niall Corbet’s crossbar.

But UCD held out and were rewarded when Georgie Kelly headed home their equaliser nine minutes after the restart.

Boland was introduced from the bench for the final 20 minutes and he proved to be UCD’s hero, pouncing at the death to break UL hearts.
