Last-gasp Givney goal earns draw for Cavan against Tyrone

The teams will meet again for a place in the Ulster SFC final.

TYRONE AND CAVAN will meet again in two weeks’ time after a David Givney equaliser in stoppage time sent this Ulster SFC semi-final to a replay.

A gripping game in Clones saw Cavan lead by 2-3 to 0-8 at half-time, thanks to goals by Givney and Conor Moynagh. Ronan O’Neill top-scored for Tyrone with three points in that first-half.

Mickey Harte’s side took control in the third quarter and found themselves three in front with successive scores from Sean Cavanagh, Mattie Donnelly, Connor McAliskey, Niall Sludden.

But Givney’s late intervention in stoppage time tied the game up. Tyrone’s Sludden had a couple of late chances to win it, but he failed to find the target on both occasions.

The replay will take place on 3 July in Clones.
