Meanwhile, Wes Hoolahan’s recent fine form was not quite so prominent this afternoon.

ALAN JUDGE IMPRESSED in the Championship today, as his stunning free-kick helped Brentford into the playoff places following a 4-1 victory over Fulham, for whom Sean Kavanagh appeared as a substitute in the final 10 minutes.

Former Ireland U21 international Judge came on as a 60th-minute sub and scored a stunning free kick shortly thereafter — not the first time he has done something out of the ordinary.

Darron Randolph played the full 90 minutes, as Birmingham beat Rotherham 2-1, with Conor Sammon having a hand in the latter’s goal before being substituted on 63 minutes.

Wes Hoolahan’s recent fine form was not quite so prominent this afternoon, as he was substituted on 56 minutes, with Norwich going on to win in his absence.

Former Ireland U18 international Patrick Bamford scored the only goal of the game, while James McClean fresh-aired a decent chance, as Middlesbrough beat Wigan 1-0 to consolidate their lead at the top of the table, sending the Latics into the relegation zone in the process.

Dubliner Stephen Henderson saved a penalty but still couldn’t prevent 10-man Charlton losing 2-1 to Millwall, with ex-Ireland U21 striker Aiden O’Brien playing the full 90 minutes for the latter.

Matt Doherty and Colorado-bound Kevin Doyle were both subs in promotion-chasing Wolves’ 2-1 win away to Nottingham Forest, with the former coming on in the dying stages.
